Awards
Trophies will be awarded for outstanding music, percussion, soloists, general effect, colorguard, bands which receive a first division or second division, colorguards which receive a first division, and the outstanding band in each classification.
Classification
Classification is based on the number of students participating in the performance. Class A 1 - 40, Class AA 41 - 65, Class AAA 66 - 90, Class AAAA 91 and above.
Eligibility
All high school bands through the 12th grade registered at the same high school are eligible to participate, including students from all feeder elementary, junior high and middle schools. Each individual who contributes to the performance must be a student.
Timing & Boundaries
Bands are allowed four minutes to setup and warm-up upon entering the field prior to the start of their performance. Each show must be less than ten minutes in length and bands must completely clear the field within two minutes following the performance. The performance boundaries are the field plus a 12 feet deep “pit” area between the 35 yard lines. Bands may not perform or place equipment anywhere in the spectator area.
Electronics
Instruments and voices may be amplified electronically. All electronically produced music must be played live and in real time by a student. Southern Arkansas University does not take responsibility for supplying power to electronic units. Electronics will not be separately adjudicated, but their contribution to the performance will be taken into consideration by the Music and General Effect Judges.
Props & Special Effects
Props may be used at the discretion of the performing bands, but all equipment must be able to be transported through the common entrance to the field in the same amount of time allowed for all bands and must be set up and removed within the time limits as stated above. The following are not allowed: pyrotechnics of any kind, discharge of arms, powder or any material that may damage or affect the playing surface, props that leave excessive residue (i.e. paper wrappings), or any substance that may linger in the air for more than two minutes.
Performance Order
Each band will perform with bands in their respective classification. Performance order within classifications will be based on random selection.
